Now let's take a high level look at your organisations flexible working support.

Flex variables

Time: e.g. flexi time, office time, non-linear
Location: e.g. remote, hybrid.
Duration: e.g. flexi time, non-linear

  Step 2: Duration Flexibility Profile  

Let's take a look at your organisations/departments work week.

Full Time:   Full time work for that role, usually a 5 day week.
Part Time:   Anything less than what the company defines as full time.
Job Share:   Where two or more people share the responsibility for a job, thus each person works part-time.
Career Breaks:   Extended periods of unpaid leave or not being in work eg sabbaticals, mental health breaks, career breaks.
Commissioned Work:   No fixed hours, you work to output targets.
4 Day Week:   Working a 4 day week instead of 5 days.
Term Time:   Working regular hours and days during term time, with flexibility during school holidays.
Semi-Retirement:   Transition to fewer hours or move to other roles which may have reduced responsibility in the lead up to full retirement.

  Step 3: Location Flexibility Profile  

Let's drill down into where your staff can work from.  

Office Based:   The job requires you to be predominantly in the office.
Hybrid:   A split of both office and remote. Often a 2:3 office:remote split.
Fully Remote:   Where you work predominantly from home/remotely.
Travel:   Where significant travel is required ie more than occasional travel.

Location Flex : Where Your Employees Work

 

  Step 4: Time Flexibility Profile  

Almost done. Let's have a look at the daily working hours you support.

Office Hours:   Traditional hours, usually 9-5.
Flexi Time:   Where you are able to choose what time to start and end work, usually around set core hours.
Annual hours:   A fixed total number of hours to be worked over the year, with variations throughout the year in terms of working day/week duration. You may not have choice over the working pattern.
Non Linear   Where you create work schedules working asynchronously, completing tasks in flexible, focused bursts throughout the day.
Short Notice Flex:   Where you have short-notice absences, and "repay" the lost time by making up your hours later.
Compressed Hours:   Working the fulltime number of hours fitted into fewer days and longer hours on those days based on mutually agreed preference.
